The conversation between Zelenskyy and Netanyahu could be called off due to reports about drones

Upcoming talks between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may be derailed due to media reports about Israel’s alleged need for Ukrainian drones.

This was reported by Ukraine’s Ambassador to Israel, Yevhen Korniychuk.

Kornichuk confirmed that Netanyahu had requested a meeting with the Ukrainian leader, but did not specify the reasons. According to him, the Israeli news outlet Ynet misrepresented the information—cooperation in the field of security was discussed, but there was no request regarding drones. Due to this situation, the conversation may be canceled, as the Israeli side reacts very sensitively to such leaks.

The ambassador noted that there has been no direct dialogue between the presidents for over a year. The last time, Netanyahu tried to call before the Jewish New Year in September of last year, but the conversation did not take place.

Kornichuk emphasized that Ukraine has many issues with Israel that are beyond the scope of public discussion. Cooperation is taking place at the level of ministers and intelligence agencies; specifically, last week a meeting was held at the Office of the President between Israeli intelligence agencies and Director Kyrylo Budanov.

The diplomat added that cooperation continues despite Israel’s conflict with Iran. He also explained that there is currently high demand for military production in Israel, including orders from Europe for the next ten years, including Ukraine, although lethal weapons are not being supplied directly to Ukraine.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to bring forward his visit to the United States amid intensified negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
