Romania is considering lowering fuel prices: the government is preparing new measures

On Monday, March 30, the Romanian government will hold a meeting to discuss possible measures to lower fuel prices in the country.

This was reported by Digi24.

Energy Minister Bogdan Ivan proposed two options: either a reduction in VAT, which is already in effect in a number of European countries, or a proportional reduction in the excise tax on fuel with a clear regulatory mechanism.

Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan noted that a new package of measures will be introduced by the end of the day, most likely through a reduction in the excise tax.

The Ministry of Finance is preparing an emergency decree to introduce a dynamic excise tax mechanism, which will help mitigate rising prices at gas stations amid the energy crisis.

As of the morning of March 29, fuel prices in Ukraine have stabilized after a prolonged rise.

Diesel has become cheaper; here are the prices at gas stations in Ukraine on March 26.

The Ministry of Economy explained whether the “National Cashback” program will continue in July.
