In Romania, a preliminary investigation of the drone crash site near the village of Plauru has been completed. The village is located on the Romanian bank of the Danube, across from Izmail in the Odesa region.
Explosives experts examined the drone’s wreckage and the crash site. According to their initial findings, no explosives were found in the recovered fragments. At the same time, the Romanian side has not yet completed all inspections. The drone debris was seized and sent for further analysis. Final conclusions will be drawn after the forensic examination is completed.
The drone crashed near Plauru, a village in Tulcea County located directly on the Danube. On the other side of the river lies the Ukrainian city of Izmail. Romania regularly records instances of Russian drone debris falling near its border. This is happening against the backdrop of Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and ports in the Odesa region.
Plauru’s location near Izmail means that Russian attacks on Ukrainian port infrastructure could also have consequences for neighboring Romania. That is why Romanian authorities examine any debris found and determine its origin each time. This time, a preliminary examination did not reveal any explosives. However, the final results will be known after further analysis of the recovered fragments. The Romanian Ministry of Defense reported the results of the inspection on August 27.
