Science Digest Show supported schools participating in a science competition in Ghana — MyJoyOnline
In Ghana, Science Digest Show continued to support schools participating in the National Science and Maths Quiz, a national competition in science and mathematics. As MyJoyOnline reports, in 2026 the project awarded 3,000 Ghanaian cedis to Bright Senior High School in Kukurantumi, Eastern Region.
The school was recognized for becoming the first private educational institution to reach the competition’s semifinals. Science Digest Show launched its initiative of cash awards for schools that place highly in the NSMQ without becoming winners in 2024.
Support for NSMQ participants
In 2024, Science Digest Show awarded 3,000 Ghanaian cedis to Adonten Senior High School. After a one-year break due to other urgent needs, the project returned with an award during the 2026 competition.
In addition to financial awards, Science Digest Show holds mentoring sessions and takes part in educational outreach. The project aims to encourage students interested in science to continue studying in this field.

Promoting science
Science Digest Show was founded six years ago. Its founder is Dr. Solomon Bediako-Frempong. Project participants explain scientific and medical facts in an accessible form for different audiences in Ghana.
The National Science and Maths Quiz has been held since 1994. The competition has become a nationwide platform for senior high schools where students demonstrate their knowledge of scientific subjects. According to the publication, Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School in Legon is, as of 2026, the only school that has won the NSMQ nine times.
Science Digest Show emphasizes that not all schools have equal opportunities for teaching science. According to the project’s assessment, successful learning requires educational materials, trained teachers, parental support, and student discipline.
