In western Libya, firefighters were dealing with the aftermath of a series of drone strikes that hit an oil refinery, a power plant, and fuel storage tanks in the city of Zawiya. According to the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC), due to the damage and the threat of further attacks, operations at the country’s largest oil refinery are at risk of coming to a complete halt.
Meanwhile, in the east of the country, in Benghazi, a high-ranking military officer was killed in a car bomb explosion. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks on critical infrastructure or for the terrorist attack in Benghazi.
