Xi Jinping leaves Beijing for BRICS summit in New Delhi, India

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday, September 12, departed Beijing for New Delhi, India, to attend the 18th BRICS summit. The trip is taking place at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ECNS reports.

Trip to New Delhi

The report states that the Chinese leader left Beijing to take part in the 18th BRICS summit, which will be held in the Indian capital. ECNS names New Delhi as the venue of the meeting.

Chinese delegation

Xi Jinping is accompanied by Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee.

The delegation also includes Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and China’s foreign minister. ECNS lists both officials among the representatives who departed with the Chinese president for India.
