Severe storms in Germany claimed the life of a woman
As a result of severe overnight storms in several regions of Germany, one woman died and at least two other people were injured. The severe weather caused significant damage in the affected areas of the country.
In the town of Waldorf, in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, a woman was killed when a tree fell on her.
The incident occurred when two women, aged 58 and 47, were walking together when a storm rolled in, and they sought shelter at a rest area. Both women were injured when a tree was uprooted and fell onto the rest area.
According to a police spokesperson, the 58-year-old woman died at the scene, while the 47-year-old was taken to the hospital.
Severe weather also struck the city of Fürstenwalde in the state of Brandenburg. It is reported that the storm damaged homes, and falling trees damaged several cars; one person was injured.

In the town of Her-Grenzhausen, in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, at least two houses were damaged by the storm. Falling debris from building facades caused additional damage; the wind also uprooted several trees.
A widespread power outage also occurred in the area, and strong gusts of wind overturned a truck.
In Wetzlar, in Hesse, the storm damaged about 60 homes, according to the fire department. In some cases, roof debris was blown as far as 100 meters away.
The German Meteorological Service warned that further severe storms are possible later in the day, particularly in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.
