Kirill Kovalchuk—the son of Mikhail Kovalchuk, head of the Kurchatov Institute, and the nephew of billionaire Yuri Kovalchuk, who is part of Vladimir Putin’s inner circle—has become Russia’s highest-paid propagandist.

According to a journalistic investigation, the annual income of the president of the “National Media Group” exceeds 628 million rubles. He receives tens of millions of rubles more from an organization linked to his uncle.

Second place in the ranking went to Alexander Zharov, head of “Gazprom-Media,” with an annual income of about 470 million rubles. Third place went to Svetlana Balanova, CEO of the “National Media Group,” who earns over 400 million rubles.

Among TV hosts, Nikita Mikhalkov has the highest income—his earnings exceed 270 million rubles a year. The total annual income of the 63 propagandists included in the study amounted to approximately 3 billion rubles.

At the same time, media executives received more than half of the total amount, while war correspondents and pro-war bloggers accounted for only 6% of the total income.
