Saudi Crown Prince vows decisive response to threats — Asharq Al-Awsat

In Saudi Arabia, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman said that the kingdom is making efforts to reduce tensions and support diplomatic solutions, but will not make concessions on matters of its own security. According to him, the country will respond decisively to any threat or attack aimed at undermining its security, Asharq Al-Awsat reports.

The prince made the statement in the annual royal address at the opening of the third year of the ninth session of Saudi Arabia’s Consultative Council on behalf of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. According to him, the country has human and military resources capable of countering threats from any source.

Security of the Persian Gulf

Mohammed bin Salman said that attacks against the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council demonstrate the indivisibility of the region’s security and stability. He also announced the conclusion of the Mecca Agreement on joint defense between Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan. According to him, the document is intended to help strengthen regional security and coordination of actions.

In addition, the crown prince announced an initiative to establish a Multinational Maritime Defense Alliance to strengthen security on international sea routes. He called on the international community to ensure the safe supply of essential goods and humanitarian aid.

Statements on regional conflicts

In the address, Mohammed bin Salman condemned what he described as the ongoing brutal attacks by the Israeli occupation authorities against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and violations concerning the Al-Aqsa Mosque. He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s position in support of Palestinian rights, including the establishment of an independent state in accordance with international agreements.

He also stated support for Yemen’s government through the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, as well as support for Sudan’s unity and stability. In domestic policy, the prince said that indicators for Vision 2030 programs and strategies had reached 93% of their targets, while non-oil exports had increased by 155% compared with 2016.
