The U.S. announced new strikes against Iran and tighter controls at sea
On July 15, the U.S. military announced that it had carried out another operation against Iranian military targets. According to the U.S. military, restrictions on shipping to and from Iranian ports were simultaneously reinstated as part of efforts to strengthen maritime control.
According to the U.S. military, the operation lasted seven hours and concluded at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time on July 14. U.S. Air Force fighter jets, drones, and Navy ships delivered precision strikes against dozens of military targets near the Strait of Hormuz and along the Iranian coast.
“U.S. fighter jets, drones, and Navy ships used precision-guided munitions against Iranian missile and drone launch sites, naval facilities, and coastal defense systems,” the statement said.
Central Command stated that the operation’s goal was to further weaken Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping and civilian crews in the Strait of Hormuz. In addition, the U.S. has reinstated a naval blockade of vessels traveling to or from Iranian ports and coastal areas. It took effect at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time on July 14.
“The U.S. Armed Forces remain vigilant, lethal, and ready to conduct operations at the Commander-in-Chief’s direction,” Central Command emphasized.
