The memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, which, according to the U.S. president, may be signed in the near future, provides for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the easing of sanctions against Iran, and a series of commitments regarding Tehran’s nuclear program.

According to the document, Iran is making commitments regarding its nuclear program.

Specifically, it provides for:

  • renouncing the development of nuclear weapons;
  • resolving the issue of accumulated enriched uranium;

In return, the U.S. agrees to immediately open the Strait of Hormuz without charging any fees, restore shipping to pre-war levels within 30 days, a temporary easing of sanctions, allowing Iran to sell oil for 60 days provided it complies with the agreements.

The document also provides for a 60-day extension of the ceasefire, particularly in Lebanon, during which the parties will hold negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear program.

According to sources, the text of the memorandum has already been agreed upon at a high level by the Iranian side, but final approval has not yet been completed.

According to the publication’s sources, the Iranian leadership has preliminarily approved the document, but final approval by Iran’s Supreme Leader has not yet been given.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he expects the agreement to be signed as early as this coming weekend, and also emphasized its strategic importance for stabilizing the situation in the region.

The document also mentions the possible lifting of the U.S. naval blockade and a return to normal shipping levels.

At the same time, the issue of frozen Iranian assets abroad remains unresolved. Iran insists on immediate access to a portion of the funds, while the U.S. proposes a phased release depending on the fulfillment of the agreement’s conditions.

As noted, the final details of the agreements may be clarified during further negotiations.
