US indicts 30 suspects in Moïse case — Anadolu Agency
In the United States, federal prosecutors have indicted 30 people in connection with their alleged involvement in the 2021 assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse. Eighteen defendants were transported by military aircraft from Haiti to Florida, where they are to appear before a federal court.
Proceedings in Florida
Redding Quiñones, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, described the transfer of the defendants as the next important stage in holding people accountable for Moïse’s murder. He said investigators would continue searching for people who financed, aided or committed crimes that enabled the assassination.
Quiñones also stated that five years after the murder, U.S. courts are still considering the defendants’ cases and the investigation has not been completed.

As Anadolu Agency reports, FBI Special Agent in Charge Brett Skiles said the motive for the murder was to obtain illicit business opportunities and contracts. He added that arrests in several countries demonstrate ongoing efforts to hold all participants in the conspiracy accountable.
Assassination of the Haitian president
Jovenel Moïse was killed on July 7, 2021, by armed attackers at his private residence in a suburb of Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince. After the murder, the crisis in the country worsened: gang coalitions seized most of the capital, political institutions collapsed, and the humanitarian situation deteriorated.
