Nkwanta North Assembly to be summoned to Ghana’s parliament — MyJoyOnline
The Nkwanta North District Assembly in Ghana is expected to be invited to an additional sitting of Parliament’s Special Committee on Sanitation and Water Resources in Accra. The committee wants an explanation regarding the assembly’s presentation during sanitation monitoring, MyJoyOnline reports.
Committee’s remarks
The committee said it was dissatisfied with certain aspects of the information submitted by the assembly and needs further clarification. The assessment covered nine assemblies in the Oti Region. Salaga South Member of Parliament and committee member Ibrahima Mohammed Zuvera said the assembly would be invited to provide additional information before the committee reaches its conclusions.

Oversight of DACF funds
The review is part of parliamentary oversight of how metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies receive and use District Assemblies Common Fund allocations for water supply and sanitation. The committee assesses not only whether the funds are used, but also whether they are directed to their intended purposes and whether the funding produces tangible results.
According to Zuvera, assemblies should not explain difficulties in implementing programmes by delays in disbursements if the funds have already been transferred. She also said that two quarterly DACF disbursements for 2026 have already been made. The committee is checking whether the 10% sanitation allocation from the fund is used for its intended purpose and whether it contributes to improving sanitation conditions.
