The official cause of Sergei Sosedov's death has been revealed
Russian propaganda media reported the official cause of death of Russian music critic and TV host Sergei Sosedov, who died after falling down a staircase at a hotel. The theory that the fall might have been caused by a blood clot was not confirmed.
The 58-year-old Sosedov was found to have a skull base fracture, a hemorrhage, and cerebral edema. The consequences of this severe head injury are cited as the cause of death. Earlier, it was speculated that he might have died from a thromboembolism. However, the theory that the fall could have been triggered by a blood clot has not been confirmed.
At the same time, the TV host’s relatives have not yet received the official expert report. According to Russian media reports, they have only been preliminarily informed of the autopsy results.
The Moment of Sosedov’s Fall: What the Surveillance Cameras Captured
The hotel’s surveillance cameras captured the moment of the fall. The footage shows Sosedov stepping onto a stair, after which he fell backward onto the landing and struck the back of his head against the tile floor.
No one was near him at the time of the fall. The camera footage was handed over to law enforcement. It has not yet been determined why the TV host lost his balance.

Sosyedov was in Neryungri, where he had traveled to participate in the “Pearl of the Far East-2026” contest as the head of the jury. After the fall, he was hospitalized. Doctors held a consultation and decided to perform surgery.
The pageant’s organizer, Viktor Bezzubov, said that Sosedov had been in good spirits shortly before the incident.
“At 10:45 p.m. local time, I was informed that Sergey Vasilyevich had died. His injuries were fatal,” he said.
