Etihad Rail station in Abu Dhabi planned to be connected to airport
In the UAE, airline Etihad Airways and rail operator Etihad Rail have signed an agreement to explore ways to improve connections between the Mohammed bin Zayed City station in Abu Dhabi and Zayed International Airport. The arrangement was announced on Tuesday at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai.
Shuttles to the rail network
As The National reports, citing the state news agency WAM, dedicated shuttles are intended to make transfers between the airport and the national rail network easier. This is expected to strengthen the integration of different modes of transport.
The parties will also consider introducing integrated booking for air and rail journeys, as well as passenger services at the station. According to the companies’ plan, such solutions are intended to provide a more convenient journey from the point of departure to the final destination.

Cooperation between the airline and railway
Etihad Airways Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer Arik De said the partnership would make it possible to explore new opportunities to connect air travel with destinations across the UAE. According to him, this could support tourism development, make travel more convenient and contribute to Abu Dhabi’s long-term economic development.
Etihad Rail Chief Operating Officer Azza Al Suwaidi said that the UAE is developing an integrated national transport system. She added that following the launch of passenger rail services earlier this year, the company continues to strengthen the network’s role in connecting the country’s cities and regions.
