Satellite images show scale of destruction in Gaza Strip — Anadolu Agency
Updated satellite images on Google Maps have shown extensive destruction of residential neighborhoods in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. The images show entire areas turned into ruins and rubble, as well as large empty spaces where dense urban development previously stood, Anadolu Agency reports.
Destroyed neighborhoods
The new images make it possible to compare the current state of Gaza's urban development and residential areas with the period before the war began. The destruction affects not only individual homes but entire residential neighborhoods.
According to the agency, the consequences of the attacks continue to pose a threat to residents after the ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2025. Since then, dozens of buildings damaged as a result of Israeli attacks have collapsed on residents. The population is also facing an acute shortage of shelter amid continued restrictions on the entry of temporary housing units.

As Anadolu Agency notes, Israeli attacks have left thousands of structures cracked or severely damaged. This increases the risk of collapse, particularly during rain, strong winds, and other weather conditions.
UN assessment
According to an assessment by the UN Satellite Centre, UNOSAT, as of June 16, 2026, approximately 201,290 buildings, or 82% of all structures, had been damaged in the Gaza Strip. This number includes 134,422 destroyed buildings, 13,848 with severe damage, 28,096 with moderate damage, and 24,924 with possible damage. About 328,627 housing units have also been damaged.
A February report by the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing stated that more than 200,000 tonnes of explosives had been dropped on the Gaza Strip over nearly two years. Anadolu Agency also reports that since October 8, 2023, Israel's war against the Gaza Strip has claimed more than 74,000 Palestinian lives, injured more than 175,000 people, and destroyed or damaged about 90% of the enclave's infrastructure.
