Trump plans to double the quota for accepting Afrikaners from South Africa — Reuters
The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is considering a significant expansion of the resettlement program for white residents of South Africa.
This is reported by Reuters.
According to informed sources, officials are discussing adding another 10,000 spots to the current limit of 7,500 people, which would effectively more than double the annual quota for Afrikaners.
This initiative is part of “Mission South Africa,” which the U.S. leader launched in February 2025.
At that time, the U.S. president signed an executive order prioritizing the resettlement of members of South Africa’s white minority, asserting that they face “genocide” and racial discrimination.
“We are reviewing the pace of resettlement right now and considering how quickly it is proceeding, and whether we need to increase the cap for the current fiscal year as well,” Assistant Secretary of State Andrew Weprek stated during an event at the Center for Migration Studies.
Current U.S. humanitarian policy demonstrates clear selectivity: from October 2025 to the end of March 2026, 4,499 South Africans arrived in the country.
At the same time, only three Afghan citizens were granted refugee status during the same period, despite thousands of applications from former U.S. allies.
To expedite the process, the State Department has deployed a special infrastructure directly in Pretoria.
Housing modules for conducting interviews have been set up on the grounds of the U.S. Embassy, allowing for the processing of up to 4,500 cases per month without involving UN agencies.
