Trump lifted tariffs on whiskey between Scotland and Kentucky following the king's visit
U.S. President Donald Trump announced the lifting of trade restrictions and tariffs on whiskey regarding trade between Scotland and the state of Kentucky.
He announced this on the social media platform Truth Social. The decision was made as a gesture of respect for the visit of the King and Queen of Great Britain to the White House.
The changes will affect cooperation in the production of whiskey and bourbon, particularly the use of wooden barrels. Trump noted that significant trade between the countries has existed for a long time, and the removal of barriers was an expected step. According to him, the decision was made out of respect for the visit of the King and Queen of Great Britain to the White House.
Previously, similar restrictions were in place amid trade disputes that affected the interests of producers in both countries and Russia in the global context of exports.
