Trump Rejected Negotiations with Iran Without Substantive Conditions
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States is not interested in meeting with Iran until Tehran is ready for substantive negotiations on ending the war. He made these remarks on July 21 during a conversation with journalists, according to “European Truth,” citing the AP.
According to Trump, Iran allegedly “desperately wants to meet” with the United States. “Until they are ready for substantive negotiations, we are not interested in a meeting,” the U.S. president emphasized.
Trump also stated that during private talks, Iranian officials expressed a desire to hold a meeting to try to end the war. He claims that Iranian forces are suffering significant losses.
Earlier, media reports indicated that the U.S. faced a choice between securing a new 10-day ceasefire and launching a large-scale joint military operation with Israel, which officials estimated would force Tehran to capitulate.
The United States also reported the deaths of two of its service members and the disappearance of another following Iran’s strikes on a facility in Jordan. Trump separately stated that the U.S. had once again struck Iran “very hard” “in honor” of the fallen American soldiers, and warned Tehran of harsh retaliatory measures.
