The Navy Blamed the Media
Acting U.S. Secretary of the Navy Hung Kao also spoke out in defense of the military. He stated that the media is allegedly trying to portray American service members as victims. “They are trying to portray our warriors as victims. This is not only dishonest, but it also distracts attention from the enemy and the threat it poses to our country, our people, and our way of life,” Cao said.
According to him, attention should be focused first and foremost on the enemy and the missions being carried out by the U.S. military.
The Pentagon also denies the allegations
Pentagon Chief Pete Hagseth called reports about conditions aboard the Abraham Lincoln “completely distorted.” At the same time, the issue has already spread beyond the media. Lawmakers from both the Democratic and Republican parties have called for an investigation into a possible deterioration of service conditions on the aircraft carrier. This goes beyond mere living conditions. Lawmakers are also concerned about reports regarding the mental health of sailors who have been on combat duty for an extended period.
Now, U.S. military agencies will have to answer lawmakers’ questions and determine whether the problems reported by the media and the families of service members actually exist on the ship. While Trump and Pentagon officials deny the seriousness of the situation, some U.S. lawmakers are insisting on an investigation.
