Trump Announced a Historic Agreement on the Disarmament of Hamas
U.S. President Donald Trump announced the achievement of what he called a “historic agreement” that calls for the complete disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in the Gaza Strip.
According to the U.S. president, the agreement reached is intended to be an important step toward lasting peace and stability in the region.
“This is a monumental step toward lasting peace and security,” Trump said.
He noted that once the terms of the agreement are fulfilled, the Gaza Strip will come under the control of a new Palestinian government, which will cooperate with the “Peace Council” established by the U.S. president.
Trump also emphasized that Israel will receive additional security guarantees, as Gaza will no longer be used as a launching pad for terrorist attacks.
“At the same time, Israel will receive the security it deserves, as Gaza will no longer be used as a base for terrorist attacks,” the U.S. president wrote.
According to Trump, after Hamas and other groups are disarmed:
- Israeli troops will be withdrawn from the Gaza Strip;
- international forces, together with a new Palestinian police force, will maintain order and security within the enclave.
The U.S. president also thanked the mediators who participated in the negotiations.
“I want to thank the mediators—Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey—for their important efforts, and especially my outstanding team, whose tireless work made this historic breakthrough possible,” Trump noted.
Following the U.S. president’s statement, Hamas representative Razi Hamad confirmed that the group had agreed to concessions.
According to him, the decision was made for the sake of the people of the Gaza Strip, to prevent further casualties and forced displacement.
“We made concessions for the sake of the people in the Gaza Strip to save them from death and forced displacement,” Razi Hamad stated.
He also noted that the negotiation process lasted about six months.

As a reminder, recently, as a result of an Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in the city of Deir al-Balah, the head of the Palestinian Internal Security Service in central Gaza, Colonel Wael al-Ledawi, and his companion, Major Ramez Abu Zraik, were killed.
The Israel Defense Forces have launched a pilot program to partially withdraw troops from southern Lebanon. Control over three villages has been transferred to the Lebanese Army, but a complete withdrawal from the region is not planned.
Despite the new round of conflict in the Middle East, Iran states that it is not abandoning diplomacy and is attempting to restore relations with the Gulf states. Officials in Tehran claim that the U.S. and the West have mistakenly interpreted their willingness to negotiate as a sign of weakness.
