Trump claims diet soda can kill cancer cells — NY Post
U.S. President Donald Trump has explained his fondness for diet soda by claiming that it can supposedly fight cancer and kill cancer cells in the body.
This was reported by the NY Post.
On Donald Trump Jr.’s podcast “Triggered,” Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, recounted how, during a meeting with Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump boasted about his stash of candy and pressed a special button in the Oval Office to have a diet soda brought to him.
“Your dad claims that diet soda is good for him because it kills the grass when you pour it on it, so it must kill cancer cells inside the body,” Dr. Oz shared.
Diet sodas are considered unhealthy by the medical community; some studies link them to weight gain and insulin resistance, which can lead to type 2 diabetes.
Kennedy and Oz were leading advocates of the “Make America Healthy Again” movement, striving to inspire Americans to avoid processed foods and improve their eating habits. But their attempts to get Trump to change his diet failed.
Dr. Oz recounted how he was once on a plane with the U.S. president and saw an orange drink (“Fanta”) on the table.
“You know, this stuff is good for me; it kills cancer cells. (…) It’s freshly squeezed, so how bad can it be?” Trump said.
The 47th U.S. president is well known for his bizarre medical beliefs. For instance, he has put forward the theory that exercise can be harmful to health because people are born with a limited amount of energy. Trump is also a fan of fast food, particularly McDonald’s.
Trumphas announced a possible deal with Iran as early as this month.

Trump also announced the “imminent opening” of the Strait of Hormuz.

As a reminder, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, during which the parties plan to finalize a definitive agreement.
