U.S. President Donald Trump announced his intention to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who had made a request to that effect.

Talks between the two leaders are scheduled for next week, immediately following the conclusion of the NATO summit, in which the U.S. president is participating.

The U.S. president discussed the details of the upcoming meeting in a telephone interview with Axios.

Trump emphasized the constructive nature of his relationship with the Israeli prime minister, noting, “We get along very well. [Netanyahu] knows who’s in charge here.”

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the phone call, which took place at the initiative of Benjamin Netanyahu.

The main purpose of the call was to congratulate the American people on the 250th anniversary of U.S. Independence Day, an important date for both partners.

“During the conversation, the prime minister noted that the United States is a guarantor of global freedom and that Israel highly values the close relations between the two countries. Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Trump agreed to meet soon in the United States,” the Israeli prime minister’s office officially announced.

It is worth recalling that relations between the two leaders have not always been smooth.

As early as the beginning of June, the U.S. president expressed concern about Israel’s strategy, warning Benjamin Netanyahu of the risks of complete international isolation should active military strikes against Iranian territory continue.

He made these remarks in a telephone interview with Axios.

Abnormally high temperatures in late June caused a sharp rise in electricity prices on European energy exchanges. Meteorologists predict that a new heat wave in July could keep prices high.

A powerful heat wave has swept across the central and eastern states of the U.S., forcing authorities to cancel or postpone dozens of events commemorating the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence.
