Tusk urged the Polish delegation at the NATO summit to be cautious in its statements regarding Ukraine

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk urged members of the Polish delegation to refrain from making statements about new financial commitments to Ukraine ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara.

According to him, Poland will continue to support Ukraine, but Warsaw is already shouldering a significant burden in securing the eastern border of the European Union and NATO.

Tusk instructed Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski to convey this position to President Karol Nawrocki, who will represent Poland at the summit.

The prime minister emphasized that the upcoming meeting will be crucial for defining European countries’ responsibility for their own defense and its financing.

At the same time, he stressed that Poland is not changing its position on the need to support Ukraine, but called on its partners to take into account Warsaw’s contribution to the defense of Europe’s eastern flank and not to impose additional financial obligations on it.
