Fishing season resumes in Bohai and Yellow seas — ECNS
China has resumed fishing in the Bohai and Yellow seas after a four-month seasonal ban. Thousands of fishing vessels put to sea after the restrictions ended, ECNS reports.
The ban had been in effect since May
The moratorium began on May 1 and covered areas of the Bohai and Yellow seas north of the 35th parallel. The seasonal fishing ban in this area was introduced in 1995 to protect marine resources.
On Monday, hundreds of boats left Liaoyu Port in the city of Dalian, Liaoning Province. Before going to sea, fishermen checked their equipment.

Patrols during the moratorium
During the ban, authorities stepped up monitoring of compliance. The Liaoning Provincial Coast Guard conducted patrols and inspections.
Liaoning's coastline is 2,290 kilometers long. The province is known for seafood, which is expected to return to markets after the fishing season resumes.
