Ghana–Yorkshire Trade & Investment Summit held in Bradford — MyJoyOnline
The Ghana–Yorkshire Trade & Investment Summit was held in Bradford, United Kingdom, on September 11–12, 2026, dedicated to strengthening trade and investment ties between Ghana and Yorkshire. The event was hosted by the University of Bradford and organised by Nana A. O. Hagan, founder and CEO of SHOFT CIC.
The summit brought together representatives of business, academia, government authorities, the diplomatic corps, traditional leaders, entrepreneurs and the creative industries. The University of Bradford School of Management and the Ghana Scholarly Society were partners of the event.
Participants and discussion topics
Guests included Bradford Lord Mayor Chris Herd, former Lord Mayor of Leeds Abigail Marshall Katung, Bradford Council Leader Stephen Anthony Place, and Ghana’s Deputy High Commissioner Akinas Kwansa. Nana Afua Apiatewa III, a representative of the Gomoa-Assin Traditional Council in Ghana and Konte Henmaa Nanakom in Greater Manchester, also took part in the event.
The keynote speakers included Ghanaian Members of Parliament Stephen Amoah, Isaac Adongo and Daniel Nana Addo Kenneth, as well as Emmanuel Mensah Thompson, Deputy Director-General of Ghana’s Securities and Exchange Commission. The discussions covered finance, investment, international relations and economic development.

Culture and entrepreneurship
The programme also included cultural and educational activities. Artisan Alice BazaaNaa from Wa, Ghana, presented traditional weaving. Participants were shown African wax fabrics, their patterns and meanings, as well as traditional household items made from natural materials, including calabashes, loofahs, clayware and kitchen utensils.
Young entrepreneurs included 10-year-old author Verity Ofori-Kuragu. The summit’s motto was “Building Bridges, Creating Value, Delivering Prosperity,” MyJoyOnline reports.
