Man in Britain charged with preparing sabotage at drone factories
In the United Kingdom, 31-year-old Joshua Cammidge appeared before Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on charges of assisting a foreign intelligence service and preparing sabotage. According to the prosecution, he passed on information about drone manufacturing facilities and proposed sabotaging them in the interests of Russian intelligence. Prosecutor Warren Stanier told the court that Cammidge allegedly provided information about four drone manufacturing factories near his home in Swindon, western England. According to the prosecution, he also researched a Wi-Fi jamming device and conducted reconnaissance of the area.
The case is linked to the man’s contacts with the GRU Volunteer Corps structure, which the prosecution described as being controlled by Russia’s GRU — an aggressor state. During the hearing, Cammidge did not state a position on the charges. At the same time, according to the prosecutor, during police questioning he firmly denied the allegations and said that he had no intention of carrying out sabotage.

Further consideration of the case
Cammidge was detained in Swindon last week by officers from the counter-terrorism unit. According to Stanier, from August 28 to September 3, he communicated with a British citizen who had travelled to Russia to fight against Ukraine. According to the prosecution, the subject of these conversations was the locations of British drone factories and their possible sabotage.
The prosecutor also said that other conversations between Cammidge and a former partner and a colleague he trusted indicated that Russian intelligence services had requested such actions. The court remanded the defendant in custody; the next hearing at London’s Old Bailey court is scheduled for September 25.
