A factory capable of producing 300 drones per year will be built in the Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic, the defense company Primoco UAV SE has received approval to build a new production facility in the city of Písek.

The company plans to manufacture up to 300 multi-purpose drones per year, which are also used in Ukraine. Preparations for the project have been underway since April 2024.

This was reported by Defence Express.

What is known about the new drone factory in the Czech Republic?

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2028, with investments estimated at 750 million Czech korunas (approximately $36 million). Once the facility is operational, the company will be able to increase drone production to 300 units annually.

This is not just a factory, but a full-fledged technology hub, which likely explains the timeline for project approval and the start of construction. It will include administrative offices, a showroom, an operator training center, and a production hall measuring 145 by 31 meters. The company emphasizes that the complex will cover the entire cycle—from development and production to demonstration and training.

The new facility will be located next to the "Pisek-Krasovice" airfield, where construction of a hangar and training infrastructure is already underway. These works are scheduled to be completed in the first half of the year.

Primoco’s flagship product remains the One 150 drone—a medium-payload aircraft that the company describes as unique in its niche. To date, over 250 such drones have been manufactured and are in use across four continents.

Ukraine is among the users: the drones were provided as part of aid from Luxembourg and Germany. This gives the manufacturer the opportunity to refine the technology based on combat experience, although detailed assessments of effectiveness are not currently being disclosed.

Particular attention is drawn to the potential of these UAVs as interceptors: they can be equipped with compact air-to-air missiles capable of reaching speeds of up to 600 kilometers per hour, which opens up the possibility of combating "Shahed"-type drones.

As a reminder, the Czech Republic has arrestedtwo suspects in the arson of a drone factory.

Additionally, Czech authorities have assured that they are not leaking data to Moscow and do not support Putin.

Meanwhile, the European Commission is demanding explanations from Hungary regarding the possible leak of data to Russia.
