A new very large crude carrier (VLCC) named Front Fraser, built for the Norwegian shipping company SEATANKERS, was delivered in Dalian, China. According to ECNS, the vessel was independently designed and built by China’s Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (DSIC) and China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd.

The Front Fraser is a 307,000-metric-ton tanker designed to transport crude oil. It is approximately 333 meters long, 60 meters wide, and 30 meters deep. The deck area exceeds 18,000 square meters, and the total area of painted surfaces is 540,000 square meters.

With a design draft of 20.5 meters, the vessel is capable of carrying over 2 million barrels of crude oil and navigating the Strait of Malacca. The tanker was designed to operate in various ports and on different waterways.

The vessel is equipped with an exhaust gas cleaning system. This is expected to save approximately 35 million yuan, or 4.9 million U.S. dollars, in fuel costs annually. Nitrogen oxide emissions meet the Tier III standard, and the tanker also complies with the requirements of Phase III of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI). DSIC Project Manager Wang Zhuntao reported that the Front Fraser passed all sea trials on the first attempt and was delivered 43 days ahead of schedule.
