A proposal has been made in the State Duma to use internet blackouts to boost the birth rate
In the Russian State Duma, Deputy Vitaly Milonov suggested that Russians have sex during internet outages to improve the demographic situation. According to him, modern technology hinders the formation of families and the birth of children, as citizens spend their time “pointlessly staring at their gadgets.”
This is reported by Russian media.
“The internet is an obstacle to conceiving children. Its absence, on the other hand, can bring people back to life. When connectivity disappears, people have time to remember traditional values and each other,” Milonov stated.
It should be noted that this statement came amid frequent problems with access to popular services and slowdowns on foreign platforms in Russia.
Rallies were held in Moscow against the blocking of Telegram and other internet restrictions, despite the fact that the authorities did not approve the event. Some participants were detained but later released.
As a reminder, residents of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region have been facing widespread mobile internet outages for the third day in a row. Despite the authorities’ claims of merely a “slowdown” during drone attacks, connectivity has not been restored even after the air threat was lifted.
In addition, a widespread mobile network outage has been reported in the Belgorod region. On March 18, authorities resorted to a complete shutdown of mobile internet for the first time.
Earlier, the St. Petersburg authorities officially announced restrictions on mobile internet service, citing security measures as the reason.
Internet access was lost in the building of the Russian State Duma amid widespread network restrictions in Moscow.
