Nearly 94,000 people displaced in Yemen due to hostilities — UN IOM
In Yemen, 93,864 people have been forced to leave their homes due to the ongoing confrontation between the forces of the internationally recognized government and the Houthis. The largest number of displacements was recorded in the governorates of Taiz and Lahj, Anadolu Agency reports, citing the UN International Organization for Migration.
Displacement in Taiz and Lahj
In the Jabal Habashi district of Taiz governorate, 18,840 people were displaced, while another 9,966 people left the Al-Ma'afer district. In Lahj governorate, 16,464 people fled the Al-Mudharabah district, while another 2,892 left the Tuban district.
According to the IOM, displacement has also spread to Aden, Hodeidah, Abyan and other districts of Taiz governorate. The organization said that it is responding to the situation on the ground together with its partners and monitoring displacement trends. The IOM called for urgent support for newly displaced families, including to provide them with shelter, access to water and sanitation services.

Civilian casualties
UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq separately reported that since the beginning of September, at least 18,000 households, or approximately 125,000 people, have been forced to leave their places of residence.
Monitors from the UN Human Rights Office confirmed 40 cases of civilian deaths and injuries between September 1 and 14: eight people were killed and another 32 were injured. According to Haq, women and children accounted for half of those killed and more than half of those injured. He also noted that the confrontation between government forces and the Houthis intensified in early July after several years of relative calm.
