The European Union is considering tightening sanctions against Russia’s shadow fleet, including possible restrictions on Russian ports.
This was reported by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga in an interview with Ukrinform.
According to him, this issue was discussed during a meeting of G7 foreign ministers in France.
Specifically, the discussion focused on banning the provision of maritime services to tankers belonging to Russia’s so-called shadow fleet.
Sybiga emphasized that sanctions should also extend to port infrastructure used for oil exports and grain shipments.
He added that such restrictions could be implemented both at the EU level and by individual countries.
The minister stressed that the new measures are intended to raise the cost of continued aggression for Russia.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is hearing for the first time about an EU mission to inspect the Druzhba oil pipeline.
Earlier it was reported that on Wednesday, March 18, European experts will visit the Druzhba oil pipeline in Ukraine. They are to assess the situation at the facility ahead of an important meeting of EU leaders regarding financial aid to Kyiv.
