Europe has only six weeks' worth of jet fuel left

Europe has about six weeks' worth of aviation fuel left.

This was stated by Fatih Birol, head of the International Energy Agency, in an interview with the AP.

According to him, due to the war in the Middle East and the blockade of supplies through the Strait of Hormuz, Europe may face flight cancellations in the very near future.

Birol called the current situation “the biggest energy crisis” we have ever faced.

He warned that without the resumption of supplies, the consequences will be rising prices for gasoline, gas, and electricity.

Additionally, he said, a prolonged blockage of supplies could negatively impact the global economy and inflation.

European airlines, including Lufthansa, Air France, and British Airways, have appealed to authorities to lower taxes, provide incentives, and allow the use of Jet A fuel due to the emergency situation in the Middle East. This is important because the conflict is significantly impacting their operations and leading to higher fares.
