In Florida, United States, Cami Cummings married her partner Sandy Adams beside the bed of her mother, Donna Cummings, in the intensive care unit. The ceremony was held to fulfill the final wish of the 81-year-old woman, who was being treated for stage 4 liver cancer, NDTV reports.
Ceremony at the hospital
Donna Cummings was staying at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital. According to the hospital, she was receiving treatment for stage 4 liver cancer. Cami said that her mother called Sandy her angel and wanted to see her daughter’s wedding.
Cami said she promised her mother that she would marry beside her bed. Hospital staff arranged a space for the family in the intensive care unit corridor, decorated it for the ceremony, and prepared a cake and sparkling lemonade.

Donna, who had previously worked as a nurse and whom Cami called her best friend, was able to give her daughter away during the ceremony. Cami said her mother had done a great deal for the family, so the wedding beside her bed became a way to support her in her final days.
Further plans
Cami and Sandy met two years ago while studying nursing. They were friends at first and later began a relationship. Cami thanked the hospital staff for organizing the event and said that she had expected a much more modest ceremony.
Shortly after the wedding, Donna Cummings died in the intensive care unit. Cami said she was happy for her mother, who was no longer in pain. The couple plan to hold a separate wedding celebration with friends in April.
