Ghana builds medical training facility without cafeteria and toilets — MyJoyOnline

In Ghana, between Ampoma and Jema in the Bono East Region, the government is building from scratch a training facility for healthcare personnel. Regional Minister Francis Owusu said that once completed, the facility should expand access to specialized education and help increase the number of trained specialists in the region and the country.

Expanding admissions

According to MyJoyOnline, the new facility is intended to address the problem of limited admissions to health training institutions that applicants in the region have faced for a long time. During a visit to the construction site as part of a trip around the region, Owusu noted that several buildings at the site are under construction and are at different stages of completion.

According to the minister, the opening of the facility will give more students the opportunity to receive an education for work in the healthcare sector. He also linked the project to an increase in the number of qualified healthcare workers.

Missing essential facilities

At the same time, Owusu pointed out that the current project does not include a cafeteria or toilets. He called the absence of these facilities a significant shortcoming that must be addressed before the institution begins operating.

The minister said he had instructed the consultant to write to the Regional Coordinating Council so that it could forward a request to the government to review the scope of the project. District Chief Executive Wilfred Zuria thanked the government for the project and assured that the district assembly would support it to ensure the timely completion of construction.
