Ghana plans garment factory in Volta Region — MyJoyOnline
In the city of Ho, Ghana EXIM Bank CEO Sylvester Adinam Mensah announced plans to establish a clothing and garment manufacturing factory in the Volta Region. According to MyJoyOnline, the plans were announced after a similar enterprise was commissioned in the town of Savelugu in the Northern Region.
Plans for the Volta Region
Mensah spoke at the Volta Regional Economic Forum, held in Ho on Wednesday. He said that President John Dramani Mahama hopes the next garment factory will be located in the Volta Region to create jobs and support local production.
According to the Ghana EXIM Bank chief, the enterprise is expected to create jobs for residents of the southern part of the region, including Keta, Anloga, Denu, Afidenyigba, Abor, Akatsi, Klikor, Agbozume, Dabala and Dzoze. He also urged forum participants to move from discussing the region's economic potential to developing projects in manufacturing, exports and employment.

Factory in Savelugu
President Mahama recently commissioned the Northshore Apparel Hub in Savelugu. The enterprise, which is fully Ghanaian-owned, was described as the country's first zero-waste regenerative apparel manufacturing hub.
According to the publication, the factory has already created more than 2,300 direct jobs. The enterprise is designed to operate around the clock with staff working in shifts and produces clothing for domestic and international markets. It was financed by Ghana EXIM Bank, Germany's development bank KfW and the Agricultural Development Bank.
The economic forum in Ho was held as part of this year's yam festival under the theme of transforming the Volta Region's potential into prosperity.
