In Ghana, extractive company representatives discussed cyber protection — MyJoyOnline

Executives of Ghanaian mining, oil and gas companies discussed cyber threats to their enterprises at an e-Crime Bureau event in Accra. The meeting took place on September 25, 2026, at the company’s office in the East Legon district, MyJoyOnline reports.

Risks to infrastructure

The second Founder’s Opera Soirée focused on managing cyber and related risks in the extractive sector. Participants examined how digital threats could affect safety, business continuity and critical infrastructure.

Discussions addressed the increasingly close connection between digital systems, industrial equipment and physical facilities. The risks cited included cyberattacks, fraud, misuse of artificial intelligence, insider threats, industrial espionage, supply-chain vulnerabilities, as well as cases in which a cybersecurity breach can have physical consequences.

Coordination within companies

The discussion on protecting data and systems in the extractive sector was moderated by Bridget Otoo, a member of the Office of the President staff and a media personality. Participants also discussed leadership, crisis management, organizational resilience and the development of cybersecurity expertise.

The event stressed that managing such risks requires interaction among management, operational teams, human resources departments, security services and external contractors. The event was hosted by e-Crime Bureau founder and executive chairman Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako. Participants included Laura Ranalli, Italy’s ambassador to Ghana and Togo.
