Israeli police on Thursday detained 16 minors and adults in Yavne'el as part of an investigation into their alleged involvement in illegal marriages involving minors. The Jerusalem Post reports.

Raids at several locations

Dozens of police officers carried out raids at several locations in Yavne'el, a locality in Lower Galilee, after investigators received information about possible violations. According to police, this information indicated that minors may have recently married or that specific preparations for illegal wedding ceremonies had begun.

Those detained included minors and adults. Police described the adults questioned by law enforcement officers as people from the minors' immediate circle.

Second operation
