Jonathan McKinsey, 40, director of engineering for the gaming user experience division at The New York Times, was shot dead in the city of Dublin, California. Police said the man, who had multiple gunshot wounds, was found in a parking lot near the Dublin Sports Grounds sports complex. This was reported by MyJoyOnline, citing the BBC.
Wife’s relatives detained
Police detained Shaoyun Zhang and Shili Chen, the parents of the deceased man’s wife, both aged 77. They are accused of several crimes, including first-degree murder, conspiracy, willful discharge of a firearm with gross negligence, and child endangerment.
According to law enforcement, McKinsey died at the scene, and his death was confirmed by The New York Times. Zhang and Chen are being held at Santa Rita Jail. The source noted that it was unknown whether they had lawyers, and their court appearance for the formal announcement of charges was scheduled for Wednesday.

Eyewitness accounts
Witnesses told KGO-TV that they heard a series of gunshots and then saw a man on the ground. One of them, Assad Razavi, said he saw the victim fall and that there was blood on his head and chest.
Razavi’s daughter said that her father saw two people walking together who calmly walked away after the shooting. According to another witness, they remained near the scene. They were detained by a police officer driving nearby several minutes after the shooting. Police did not disclose the motive for the attack.
