Israeli flag about 40 meters tall raised in Haifa

In Haifa, Israel, an Israeli flag approximately 40 meters tall was raised on the eve of Rosh Hashanah. It is expected to be officially recognized as the largest mobile flag in the world, the Jerusalem Post reports.

Flag near the Port of Haifa

The flag was placed near Palmer Gate at the Port of Haifa. It can be seen from many parts of the city and Haifa Bay, as well as from the sea and from ships approaching the port.

The Haifa Municipality, the Port of Haifa and Boaz Hayon joined the initiative. According to the publication, the campaign is intended to strengthen the sense of unity, belonging and Israeli pride.

Application to Guinness World Records

The flag was submitted as a candidate for recognition by Guinness World Records. It is permanently displayed at Flag House in Kfar Shmaryahu.

Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav called it symbolic that on the eve of the new year, the flag is flying over the port and is visible from different parts of the city and from the sea. According to him, Haifa has endured difficult days in recent years, including attacks, sirens and threats during the recent wars, but the city has endured.
