In Kyrgyzstan, 50 companies were dissolved due to the threat of anti-Russian sanctions

For the first time in the country’s history, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Justice has issued an order to simultaneously suspend the operations of 50 local legal entities. 

This was reported by the Reuters news agency. This radical step is due to the high risk of secondary economic restrictions being imposed by Western partners because these companies were used to circumvent international sanctions.

The official agency has not disclosed the specific names of the liquidated companies, nor has it provided details on their fields of activity or ties to the Russian Federation. The decision was made based on materials from the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, which indicated the companies’ likely involvement in questionable transactions. The closure of these firms marked the first practical application of a new simplified intergovernmental mechanism aimed at the rapid identification and blocking of unscrupulous participants in foreign economic activity.

It is worth noting that Kyrgyzstan has come under increased scrutiny from the international community after the European Union activated an anti-circumvention tool as part of its 20th sanctions package. Due to the systematic re-export of industrial equipment and radio equipment to Russia, the EU imposed a strict ban on the supply of such technologies to Kyrgyzstan itself. The current actions of the government in Bishkek are an attempt to minimize further pressure on the national economy and demonstrate to the West a willingness to combat the illegal transit of goods subject to sanctions.
