Exercises on deploying NATO forces eastward begin in Hamburg — Anadolu Agency
In the German city of Hamburg, the Bundeswehr has launched the three-day Red Storm Charlie exercise, during which it is rehearsing the reception and subsequent deployment of NATO troops and equipment eastward through the port. The drills will continue until Saturday.
Participants and equipment
About 500 service members and more than 1,000 civilian representatives from approximately 60 organizations, including fire services and private companies, are taking part in the exercise. According to Anadolu Agency, around 70 wheeled military vehicles, some of them armored, will move through Hamburg. A significant part of the movements will take place at night, as could happen in an emergency.

Exercise scenarios
Under the Bundeswehr scenario, political tensions arise at the borders of the Baltic states, after which NATO forces arrive in Hamburg and continue eastward via roads and highways. The military, police and other services will respond, among other things, to a simulated drone attack on a military convoy and large-scale power outages.
On Friday, scenarios involving a chemical accident and sabotage against a train carrying military cargo are scheduled to be practiced. The Saturday part of the drills will be devoted to providing assistance to a large number of wounded people and deploying an alternative treatment site, including in protected underground facilities. Two NH90 helicopters and one Super Puma will also be used in the exercise.
