In China, 11 foreigners visited cultural sites in Liaoning — ECNS

In China’s Liaoning Province, 11 participants from Russia, Brazil, Ireland, the United States, France, Pakistan and other countries joined the two-day cultural event “One World, One Heart: Let’s Celebrate Together.” They visited the cities of Fushun and Liaoyang ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival and China’s National Day, ECNS reports.

The event was organized by the Information Office of the People’s Government of Liaoning Province. The participants were described as ambassadors of Liaoning’s cultural experience ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Trip to Fushun

On the first day, the group visited the Lei Feng Memorial Hall, climbed Tiannyu Mountain and prepared dinner with local farmers in a rural courtyard. Roger, a Russian video blogger living in Liaoning, said that after posting a video from Tiannyu Mountain, he received questions from compatriots about the place.

According to him, foreigners mostly know the cities of Shenyang and Dalian in Liaoning, while this trip showed him the province’s diversity.

Crafts and production in Liaoyang

In Liaoyang, the participants visited a local museum, where they took part in a quiz dedicated to exhibits related to the moon and family reunions. At the site of Pinghu Tower, they learned to make sugar figurines, create paper cuttings and paint with brushes.

Frenchwoman Bu Ailey noted that Chinese painting proved more accessible than she had expected, but writing Chinese characters with ink was difficult. She said she wanted to tell her family and friends about the life in China that she had seen.

The group also visited Guangyou Temple and the Liaoyang White Pagoda, which ECNS calls the tallest in northeastern China. The final location was the Xiaobeihe sock production town: the guests learned about the process from knitting to packaging and created Mid-Autumn Festival-style sock designs.
