In China, State Council spokesperson calls mainland China the best destination for Taiwanese business
In China, Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of the PRC, said that mainland China remains the best destination for Taiwanese entrepreneurs and companies. According to him, it is an environment for innovation and growth and reliable protection against risks, ECNS reports.
Trade indicators
Chen Binhua cited data on trade turnover between mainland China and Taiwan for January through July 2026. It amounted to $221.8 billion, up 26.5% compared with the same period last year.
Mainland China's exports to Taiwan totaled $62.17 billion and increased by 31.6% year on year. Imports from Taiwan, according to the data cited by the spokesperson, reached $159.63 billion, 24.7% more than a year earlier.

The representative of the Taiwan Affairs Office said these indicators demonstrate close economic ties, a solid foundation of shared interests, as well as the resilience of industrial and supply chains on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
Chen Binhua also said that China had effectively responded to external challenges, including geopolitical conflicts and trade disputes, while maintaining an overall stable development trajectory. According to him, the Chinese economy is creating new opportunities and broader space for economic cooperation and integrated development across the Taiwan Strait. Separately, the spokesperson criticized what he called slanderous campaigns and pessimistic forecasts from Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party administration.
