China processes first yacht departure from Qingshui Bay area

On September 7, the Chinese yacht “Yangdu Tong” departed from the Qingshui Bay yacht marina in Lingshui, Hainan Province, for Hong Kong after completing departure procedures. This was the first case of a yacht being cleared for departure since the Qingshui Bay area of Sanya Port was opened to international traffic.

Port area for international yachts

As ECNS reports, the Qingshui Bay area, together with the Nanshan and Yinggehai areas, was officially opened to international traffic on July 3, 2026, with the approval of China’s State Council.

The Nanshan and Yinggehai areas specialize in servicing cargo and energy vessels. The Qingshui Bay area is intended for yacht berthing and provides international yachts with entry and exit clearance services.

The Sanya Border Inspection Station said it reviewed the vessel’s documents and passenger information in advance. The station also coordinated with other inspection units, shipping agents and terminal operators to complete the inspection promptly.

According to the station, simplified procedures for foreign yachts and a grid-based management model for yacht clearance have been introduced in recent years. Li Yunshan, head of the second duty group, said the station would continue to optimize inspection procedures for international yachts.
