Landslide in China kills at least one person
In China, in the town of Gaoping in Suichuan County, Jiangxi Province, at least one person was killed in a landslide, while another 11 are considered missing. This was reported by the South China Morning Post, citing state broadcaster CCTV.
Landslide in a mountainous area
According to CCTV, the landslide occurred at around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday in a mountainous area of Jiangxi Province. People were buried under soil. Rescue teams were heading to the disaster site.
The incident occurred after several days of heavy rain brought by the outer bands of Typhoon Saudel and a cold front. Flooding in Suichuan County inundated areas, cut off some residents, caused road collapses and significantly disrupted essential services.

Other natural disasters
The publication notes that China has experienced a series of natural disasters in recent months. After a glacier collapse on August 26 on the border with Nepal, a mudflow occurred, causing flash floods and landslides. According to the latest cited data, the deaths of 31 people have been confirmed in Tibet's Ziron County, while another 531 people are missing.
In Nepal, the death toll from this disaster reached 1,342, while another 4,898 people are considered missing. Earlier in the summer, a major landslide in Pengshui County of Chongqing in southwestern China claimed 42 lives and buried residential buildings along the Wu River.
