An AI Development Alliance Between Mainland China and Taiwan Was Established in Kunshan
On August 17, in the city of Kunshan in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu, an Alliance for the Development of the Artificial Intelligence Industry between Mainland China and Taiwan was established. The alliance aims to combine the complementary strengths of both sides to advance the AI sector, according to ECNS.
The alliance’s founders include leading companies, such as Luxshare Industries, as well as academic institutions and industrial funds. The alliance has more than 60 initial members covering the entire artificial intelligence industry chain.
Along with the alliance, a 3 billion yuan AI industry development fund was launched. Its funds are planned to be directed toward key areas, including AI servers, embedded intelligence, and smart connected vehicles.

Huo Yang, an associate professor at Tsinghua University, noted that the large market and diverse application scenarios in mainland China complement Taiwan’s expertise in precision manufacturing and product development. According to ECNS, Kunshan is one of the key hubs for Taiwanese investment: more than 70% of the top 100 Taiwanese manufacturing companies are based in the city, and the local AI industry’s output has already exceeded 100 billion yuan.
The alliance aims to expand cooperation from complementary supply chains to joint technological innovation, the development of standards, and entry into global markets.
