Wildberries and a number of Russian websites have been blocked in Latvia

Latvia has decided to restrict access to eight Russian-based websites, including the Wildberries marketplace, as well as certain book and sports websites. The decision was made by the National Electronic Media Council (NEPLP), which cited national security concerns as the rationale. According to the regulator, these resources could promote a positive image of Russia and influence the country’s information space, which is viewed as a potential risk to information security.

The list of blocked resources includes the Wildberries marketplace, the publication “RBC Companies,” the “Labyrinth” bookstore, the AST publishing house, the LiveLib book service, as well as the sports websites “Championship” and “Soviet Sport” and the V1 news portal from Volgograd.

These resources pose a threat to Latvia’s national security because they “foster a positive attitude toward Russia.” Separately, the Latvian regulator noted that goods bearing Russian symbols are available on the Wildberries platform.

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, Latvia has regularly restricted access to Russian media and online resources. Between 2025 and 2026, the country has already blocked dozens of websites, including propaganda portals, military resources, and regional Russian publications.
