Medina to host conference on countering ideological deviations — Asharq Al-Awsat
An international conference dedicated to Saudi Arabia’s efforts to counter ideological deviations is scheduled to take place in Medina, Saudi Arabia, on September 27–28. The event will be held under the patronage of Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, governor of the Medina Region.
Participants and program
The conference is organized by the Islamic University of Medina. It is expected to bring together theologians, officials, researchers, and specialized experts from Saudi Arabia and other countries, Asharq Al-Awsat reports, citing the Saudi Press Agency.
The program includes presentations of 56 peer-reviewed academic papers, nine discussion sessions, and 10 accompanying exhibitions. They will focus on the causes and consequences of ideological deviations, as well as ways to counter them.

Discussion topics
The announced topics include national initiatives to counter extremism, the role of religious beliefs, mental health, and public institutions in preventing ideological deviations. Participants will also examine the use of modern technologies, artificial intelligence, and social media to raise awareness and respond to contemporary ideological challenges.
The conference aims to promote academic dialogue, the exchange of experience, and the development of recommendations to strengthen national and international efforts to create more informed societies.
