Puppy Rollo takes up residence at Mexico’s National Palace
Mexico’s National Palace has a new resident — a mixed-breed puppy named Rollo. The adopted dog is expected to provide support and promote everyone’s emotional well-being, Mexico News Daily reports.

In a video published on the official accounts of the Mexican government, Rollo runs through the corridors and gardens of the National Palace. In one episode, the puppy sits at a desk wearing a tie.
A government post said that Rollo is under the care of the General Directorate of Digital Communications of the presidential administration. The video also mentions his brother Theo, who is still looking for a family. Information on where and how he can be adopted was not disclosed.

The palace cats
Rollo joined the cats that live in the gardens and other parts of the National Palace. President Claudia Sheinbaum has shown these animals during tours of the presidential headquarters.
In May 2026, Sheinbaum said that 16 cats lived at the palace, although their number varied in different years. In 2024, it was reported that 19 cats had been granted the status of “living fixed assets,” intended to ensure funding for their food, medical care and lifelong maintenance.
Among the cats publicly named are Coco, Zeus, Roja, Ollie and Balam. Unlike Rollo, these cats were not adopted: according to the presidential administration, they have lived at the palace for many years, and there is no precise information about the arrival of each of them.
